Context
A company specializing in public lighting management for municipalities and their service providers needed a single platform to manage public lighting, adjust schedules, detect anomalies, and plan maintenance.
Approach
Development of a web application that serves as a management portal and provides analytical dashboards. The real-time stack combines AWS S3, DuckDB, and Parquet, with Shell/Cron pipelines, a FastAPI backend, and a TypeScript/SvelteKit interface.
Impact
Network managers use the application every morning. Consumption and incident metrics update dynamically, with predictive maintenance and alerting deployed across more than 40 territories.
What we delivered
- Continuous collection of lighting meter data with optimized S3 and Parquet storage.
- Shell/Cron pipelines to refresh the cache.
- DuckDB analytics delivering KPIs instantly across years of historical data, with dynamic visualizations of the results.
- Management of mandates associated with data owners and users.
- Alert dashboards for operators (failures, consumption, schedule anomalies).
- Open REST API for connecting service provider and municipal systems.
- Multi-tenant management with granular permissions and segmentation by operator.
Critical work deserves more than generic software.
Start with a real use case, the stakeholders involved, and the available data to identify the next useful step.
